The "Night Mode" on my camera resulted in some interesting effects with the longer exposure, over the bumpy road.

Rose's Hat

When a girlfriend recently came to visit with her three daughters, she asked me to put together a hat for each of the girls. They all chose a colour, and Rose wanted green. So I grabbed a ball of 8 ply in Guava from  Bendigo Woollen Mills, and played around with design.

Like most of the hats I make, I started off with the crown shape, and then played with design. I've used a mix of half treble for the shorter stitches, and treble for the longer stitches.

The flower looks a lot bigger in this picture than in reality, but I do like how it came out. Just hope Rose likes it.

It's a tough life!

A Photo A Day - 09.06.2012

Or 2 or 3.......  I spent Friday night at my parents place, and woke up to a fog blanketing the farm. I couldn't resist the chance to take some shots, so rugged up and headed out.  I swear these haven't been touched up in any way, and are just taken with the camera on my phone.

Not quite snow, but just as cold!

Round & Round The Garden

It has taken 2 years of picking up and putting down, but at long last I've finished my 3D flower rug. I've gone from loving it, to hating it, and back to loving it again. Time is a funny thing like that.

When I started working from home, I decided I needed a rug to put over my legs when working at the desk. Sounds daggy I know, but it gets pretty cold in my office. So I started with the centre 3D flower motif, and played with the layout of weeks and weeks. Finally I decided I could keep rearranging for ever and never by happy, so just accepted it as done as a 5 x 6 square layout.

Then I added the outer square rounds. My patchwork brain kicked in, and added "sashing" to join the blocks together.

I tried a couple of different border ideas. A mixed colour granny edge was to heavy looking, so finally settled on this simple edging. I think it works, even if it is a little "wavy".

A Photo A Day - 05.06.2012

Another week, another plane trip! Not for fun like Lara. Do I sound jealous, because I am?

Albury airport was dark and cold at 6.30am this morning, especially when you have to walk out onto the tarmac to get on the plane.

A Photo A Day - 04.06.2012

Does the weather effect your mood? It sure does for me. I've always suffered "the winter blues". When I was working from the office full time, I hated going to work in the dark and coming home in the dark. Those rare winter days that a clear and crisp were OK, but unfortunately today wasn't one of those.

The fog rolled down the valley at dawn, and didn't lift until this afternoon. My brain was as foggy as the weather, and I must have read the same document 4 times trying to get it to sink in.

A Photo A Day - 03.06.2012

Oh how I love to get out in the garden over these colder months. Sometimes I think I'm mad, but it gives me a chance to look at the "bones" of the garden. Winter is my time to design how I want to shape the garden for the future. So that's what I've been doing today. Reshaping garden beds and making plans. So when I was dreaming of how the design changes I've been working one would translate next spring, the catkins hanging from the Hazelnut tree were too tempting. I had to take this shot. The rough texture of the catkin. The shine of the damp bark. The droplet just about to fall. The whisper of a web catching the sun. I love my precious garden time.

A Photo A Day - 02.06.2012

Today has hardly been a day of high adventure. A trip to the Murray Goulburn  produce shop to buy new work boots for Mr, has been the highlight. While he was trying on work boots, this gumboot display caught my eye. This was just one row of about six. Who knew there were so many gumboot "options".

A Photo A Day - 01.06.2012

I've tried to get back into the "Photo A Day Challenge", but have struggled to keep motivated. So I thought I would try something different in June, and just take a photo of whatever is going on that day.

So on Friday 01.06.2012 I was working in Melbourne. On the way to the office I was super distracted by the hot air balloons floating over head. So much so that I made sure to turn into a smaller side street, so I could take this shot.
